Welcome to the website of the Cincinnati Musicians’ Association, which
is No. 1 of the American Federation of Musicians. For more than 100 years this
organization has been the source for the finest professional musicians in the
Midwest.
Our
mission is to unite and organize musicians, arrangers and copyists of music,
and music librarians. It seeks to elevate and improve the economic and social
position of its members. It establishes working conditions and minimum fees to
be charged and paid for the services of its members, and it negotiates
contracts with employers to uphold these provisions, including health and
pension benefits.
To
the best of its ability, it constantly attempts to develop and provide
performance employment opportunities as well as maintain goodwill with the
public.
The
performances of its members are as players in the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati
Ballet, the Cincinnati Opera, the
Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra,
the Blue Ash-Montgomery Symphony Orchestra.
Its members are freelance players in the recording studios, in the pit for
shows, at parties, receptions and dances or in many jazz, rock, blues and contemporary venues around the city.
As
musicians the members are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of LIVE
music and education. Its members are the foremost teachers for the players of
tomorrow. If you desire to be a professional musician, we invite and encourage
you to join and
remain in the community of musicians. If you are simply interested in the
finest music or in our union, explore our website to learn where many are
playing and what is scheduled.
