Mike Andres, Board Member

How long have you served on the board? I can’t even remember when I first joined the board!

What particular “talent” or interest do you bring to the board? I’ve had many years of experience as a free-lance musician and contractor which gives me a great perspective on solutions in current times.

How old were you when you joined the union? I was 25!

What locals have you belonged to? Just Local #1

What instrument (s) do you play? Woodwinds: Clarinets, Saxophones, Flute

What kind of music do you play? All kinds- Classical, jazz.

What part of town do you live in? I’ve lived in Westwood for about 21 years, but I grew up in the west end of Cincinnati.

Are any of your family musicians? My wife Rebecca plays the flute, my son plays and lives out in California, and my step-son Alex plays the saxophone.

How have you seen the union change since you joined? I see the union now as being more sensitive and responsive to our members input.

What are the union’s biggest challenges now? Staying relevant to the changing musical scene.

What is your vision for the union in the coming years? Like it says on the side of police cars: “To protect and serve”.
Thanks, Mike, for all your years of service to the union!
