Every musician that joins the Local automatically becomes a member of the C.M.A. Benefit Club if he has not reached the age of 45. The Club is a non-profit corporation that administers the group life insurance benefits for all our members. During the first five years of a musician’s membership he receives life insurance valued at $250.00, and each five years of continuous membership thereafter, the value of his life insurance increases by $250.00. The automatic increases in value continue until a maximum of $1000.00 is reached in fifteen (15) years of continuous membership.
The musician pays $1.25 per quarter (as part of dues) to the C.M.A. Benefit Club. The payment will attain a total of $50.00 in a ten (10) year period and completes the payment of the club initiation fee. Thereafter, the quarterly dues are reduced by $1.25.
Resignation or erasure from the Local automatically cancels all life insurance benefits. In the event a member desires to reinstate his membership in the Local, he will automatically reinstate his membership in the C.M.A. Benefit Club, if he has not reached the age of 45 and he will be required to pay a reinstatement fee. No previous years of membership may be credited at the time of reinstatement and the member’s life insurance again begins with a $250.00 value.
